What is it?

Thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth often see in infants and toddlers. You may notice white patches in your baby's mouth. They may be present on tongue, lips, gum, inside of cheeks and roof of mouth. These patches are not easily wiped off. If wiped away the area under them is usually bright red and may bleed. These white patches can be painful.

What can I do?

If you think your child may have thrush please call our office. If you are breastfeeding and you have been diagnosed with a yeast infection please contact our office if your baby has not been treated. While your child has thrush proper sterilization of bottles, nipples and pacifiers helps reduce the yeast on the objects.

When do I call the office?

Call the office during normal business hours if:

  • You think your child may have thrush
  • You are breastfeeding and have a yeast infection
  • Your child is being treated for thrush and is not better after two weeks of treatment
